In part two of our three-part special series on leading through crisis, hosts Nathan Bennett and Mari Yamaguchi welcome Genesys CEO Tony Bates and Eric Thomas, Genesys Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, for an earnest discussion about race, fearlessness and the crucial importance of building a sustainable model of equity in action.

Tony Bates

Chief Executive Officer, Genesys

Tony leads the company’s strategy, direction and operations in more than 100 countries and oversees a global team of more than 5,000 employees. Tony has decades of experience steering business-to-business and business-to-consumer companies through major market transitions and rapid scaling. Once Skype was acquired by Microsoft, Tony became president where he was responsible for unified communications before serving as executive vice president of business development and developers. In addition to his role at Genesys, Tony will continue to serve on the board of directors at both VMWare and eBay.

Eric Thomas

Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Genesys

Eric leads the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) office for Genesys, committed to fostering an empathic culture where every voice is heard, remembered and understood. Eric most recently served as Vice President, Global Delivery in Professional Services where he led a global professional services team of 450+ Enterprise & Cloud professionals responsible for implementation services across the NA, LATAM, EMEA and APAC regions. Given his 15 years of experience in leadership roles at Ericsson, and Alcatel-Lucent prior to joining Genesys two years ago, he is a seasoned technology executive with expertise in general management, customer programs delivery, sales and business development.  He holds an MBA and earned an executive management certificate from the London School of Business.
